STF arrests man with fake 500 notes at Dharmatala with face value of 3 lakhs
In a significant drug bust, personnel from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) arrested a trafficker with 10 kilograms of cannabis near the Narpatganj railway overbridge in Araria, Bihar. The operation was initiated after the SSB received specific intelligence about an ongoing drug trafficking attempt in the region. The trafficker, identified as Roshan Kumar, a resident of Mansi in Khagaria district, was apprehended while attempting to smuggle the cannabis from Nepal into India through a well-known border route at Narpatganj.
The special team of SSB personnel intercepted Kumar on foot near the Narpatganj market area. He was found carrying the drugs in a concealed manner, prompting his immediate arrest. After being detained, Kumar was transported to the SSB Narpatganj police station, where detailed questioning was carried out. During the interrogation, Kumar reportedly disclosed that he had been smuggling cannabis from Nepal for a prolonged period and was using Narpatganj as a transit point for moving the drugs into India.
Following the arrest, an FIR was lodged by the SSB, and Kumar was officially charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The trafficker was then handed over to Narpatganj police for further legal processing. The police are now investigating his connections to a larger drug trafficking network that operates along the Indo-Nepal border, attempting to disrupt the illegal smuggling routes that have been a growing concern for law enforcement agencies in the region.
The arrest comes as part of a continued effort by the SSB to clamp down on illegal activities along the India-Nepal border. Kumar Vikas, the Station Head of Narpatganj police station, confirmed the seizure of 10 kilograms of cannabis and stated that after the interrogation process, Kumar was sent to judicial custody in Araria. Authorities have assured that investigations will continue in order to trace the origins of the cannabis and dismantle the trafficking network.
